News today was widespread on the shift Google made from formerly being called Google Editions to Google eBooks. This will be a definite shot in the arm for the publishing industry as a whole. It will allow for more competition, as well as giving authors another channel to sell books through to reach consumers directly.
Authors should be calling their publishers this week to find out what has been or is being done to enter that online store in time for the holidays. PR and book marketing folks should be finding out if their authors have made the cut to be on that sales channel and help ‘pull’ sales through. On top of that, a PR representative should make their author available on that sales channel as an expert available for comments, to enter that space and reach new readers.
The days of sitting back waiting for your publisher to act is really long gone. Authors should be the loudest voice heard on their own message.
