The Nook takes on the Amazon Fire – Book Marketing in 2012
Tablet’s continue to hit the market and soar in sales. Just yesterday Hachette Book Group announced that 21% of their sales are now digitally related. What does this mean for authors and publishers as well as book marketer’s like Fresh Impact PR Group?
It means every book will take on different shape based on platform, legwork done up front and strategy. It always amazes me to see what books spark sales and reach the tipping point and which ones don’t.
I know of some authors who have spent upwards of 3 years building their platform and network before seeding a book to the market. Really smart!
Not only are readers savvier now a days but on top of that sales channels are ever changing.
My advice to authors is to take advantage of bookstore sales while they are around. Take advantage of the tablet race and jump in right now. We jumped in several months ago with tablet publishing seen here: http://bit.ly/f9cpwZ . There has never been a better time to develop your transmedia than ever before. Allowing content sharing directly from your device to social media platforms will become the next wave of book marketing. You can already see ad’s directing viewers to their social pages instead of their own websites. Every piece of your book marketing plan needs to be in place at least 5-6 months prior to your publishing street date.
